Updates

1st-- update on the last post: my citizen duties have been deferred for a month. I called from work on New Year's eve and explained my situation with it being a busy time at work and then leaving for vacation and it was postponed for a month. My sister got summoned for jury duty for the same week. She said she had to request postponement as well due to lack of child care. Well, she called after I told how how I called and got mine postponed; turns out for being a new mom w/o childcare, she can request a 2 year deferment. Good for her.

2nd-- pregnancy updates

There's the external view of my 24 week 6 day tum. We haven't been very good about documenting my belly growth; so, my new resolution is to take new belly pics to coincide with doctor's appointments.

We had a follow-up ultrasound/doctor appointment this past Thursday. The doctor said everything looks good. The CPCs that were noted on the 19 week ultrasound were no longer evident in this one. Needless to say, we were very happy to hear that. Before we leave for vacation I have to go to the lab for the Glucose Challenge Test where they screen for gestational diabetes. My next doctor appointment is scheduled for the Monday after our vacation, 1/28. With that appointment my third trimester begins. Amazing how time flies. I guess after that appointment doctor visits will increase in frequency to every two weeks.

Also in baby news, we finally started the registry thing. We got out to Babies 'R Us and Target on New Year's Day. There's a shopping plaza not too far away that has both stores. I had been adamant that we were supposed to get out to start the registries over the weekend but that didn't happen; but as a consolation to myself, before going to bed Sunday I started the Target one online. Target has all the best Classic Pooh stuff; that's our "theme", goes with either gender. On New Year's we had a pretty lazy holiday and by the time we got to Babies R Us we didn't even have an hour before they closed. The employee there was very nice. When she pointed out the departments she also pointed out the location of the bathroom; guess they're trained as to what's important to expectant mothers. So without having much time we got a feeble start there but can add more online and stop back in sometime soon. I may want to try to get back there to check out some the informational classes/seminars that they offer. When we left there we went to Target, they didn't have abbreviated holiday hours. I showed him the things that I had registered for online and we added to it a little. We've got to look into the recommended items and research some things. I want to go to the library to check out Consumer Reports; how do we know which baby monitor is best, there's too many things hard to know what is best. But at least we got that started. Now my next step is to get the contact list out to the friend who said she wanted to throw the shower before this weekend is up. As I've noted before, time is flying.
